Why do you need an IDP?
An International Driving Permit (IDP) allows you to drive abroad using your valid national license. Rental companies and traffic authorities often require an IDP alongside your domestic license.
The IDP translates your license into the language of your destination country. It does not replace your national license and is not a valid form of ID.
We follow the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, which is recognized in over 160 countries.
Applying online takes less than a minute. You must be 18 or older, and no test is required.

Printed IDP booklet
This IDP booklet contains info about your driver’s license, based on your online application.
Contains 16 pages including:
- Validity period
- List of countries traditionally accepting the 1968 IDP (many more accept it today)
- Vehicle types you’re allowed to drive (in 12 languages)
- Your photo
- Your signature
- Your full name
- Country of birth
- Date of birth
- Country of residence
You can scan the QR code to access your “My Order” page and check your IDP status and details.
ID Card
An additional ID card comes with the printed IDP booklet, making it even more convenient to use internationally. It includes details from your national license, such as your name, address, and vehicle categories you’re allowed to drive. This helps foreign authorities quickly assess your driving qualifications.
The card includes a QR code for instant access to your digital IDP on a smartphone. Keep in mind that the IDP and the card are only translation tools and must always be used with your valid national driver’s license. While the IDP is recognized in many countries, it does not replace your official national license.
Digital version
A digital version of the IDP booklet is also available, making the use of your International Driving Permit even more convenient for foreign traffic authorities. It helps simplify driver identification abroad, reducing language barriers and misunderstandings during inspections.
The digital card contains all key data from your national driver’s license, including your full name, residence, and the vehicle categories you are allowed to drive. This is especially useful in countries where your native language may not be understood by local officials.
In addition, the card includes a QR code that gives instant access to your digital IDP booklet via smartphone. This adds convenience and confidence, ensuring your documents are always at hand, even if the printed version is unavailable.
Please remember that the IDP and the plastic card are only translation tools. They do not replace your valid national driver’s license, and must always be used together with your official license to have legal standing abroad.
